The Ladder and the Lighthouse

Story Synopsis

Mira, a former climbing instructor with scars from her own past, agrees to coach Layan, a thirteen-year-old who freezes every time she ascends past the second rung of any ladder. To prove that fear can be unlearned, the two women spend a week scaling the rusted spiral staircase of a decommissioned coastal lighthouse, trading secrets at every landing.
